New horizons for restoration

A diver hovering above the reef holds an underwater camera with two yellow flashes. He is trying to capture an image of a photo square posed on top of the rich vegetation covering the rocky reef.

We have signed an agreement with the ‘Parco Sommerso di Gaiola’ Marine Protected Area for the protection of local species of Cystoseira sensu lato!

We met with the director and signed an agreement for the protection and monitoring of Campania’s marine forests. The Marine Protected Area is committed to providing support for the monitoring we carry out and to helping us collect information on local species.

The ‘Parco Sommerso di Gaiola’ joins the other marine protected areas that have signed our letter of support. Cystoseira s.l. marine forests are endangered throughout the Mediterranean, not only in the areas where we are carrying out reforestation. An important part of our project involves engaging new institutions in the protection of brown macroalgae, as these collaborations increase the scope of our actions!
