The second project monitoring visit, hosted by Area Marina Protetta Isola di Bergeggi, has just ended today.
All the project tasks have been checked and the issues found during the first half of the project addressed with the contribution of all the participants.
After that, we had a visit on the field in the Bergeggi MPA, where we could see the progress and the challenges the researchers had to face in that particular restoration area.
The delegates of each partner spent three intense days between technical meetings and visits to the restoration sites in the field.
We took the opportunity to have a face to face project meeting and to plan future actions.
The REEForest project is halfway there, but there are still many actions that need to be carried out and others that need to be optimised to get the restoration the way we want it.
The extent of the habitat we want to restore is such that the effort to make cultivation and transplanting techniques scalable must be accompanied by meticulous planning.
No one has ever attempted a feat of this magnitude, which is why meeting each other in person has allowed us to work much more efficiently!
Now it is time for everyone to go back to their laboratory, office or university and commit even more to our primary mission: the restoration of marine habitats!
